This week I had prepared a post on “praying through your problems.” It outlined a practical approach to addressing those anxieties which tend to plague our thoughts and distract our prayer lives. Well, that’s not what I have for you today.
In light of the aftermath of severe flooding just down the road from many of us, I felt it best to take a moment and bring to mind a few truths which remain even in the presence of tragic circumstances.
Feel free to print these verses and pray with them as you face any of the challenges life may be throwing your way. Below I also have included links to music videos which ring clear the truths of these verses.
Each of you are in my prayers as we, a community of neighbors, believers, and concerned individuals, come together to persevere and overcome the challenges of recent flooding as well as the realities of a broken world that often presents tragic hardships.
With sincere love,
To disasters of all magnitude, I speak the following truths…
My God is greater than your biggest consequence.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:32)
My God sees me and will provide for my needs.
“God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
I have strength to persevere, because I have seen the power of my God.
“…we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9)
