2015 Week 1 of ADVENT
This week I thought I would share my plan for praying through the Advent Season with my kiddos, who range in age from 2-11 yrs. Here is the link to a wonderful set of free printable scripture cards dated daily from Dec 1 – 24th. Not only are they adorable, but they are also not too wordy for my littlest ones. The plan for us to print them on card stock and label colorful envelopes (like these) 1-24 with the corresponding daily verse inside. I will let the kids take a turn opening the envelope each day. We will then read the card and tape the verse onto a poster board tree we painted. When the tree is filled up…. it will be CHRISTMAS!!!
Please share with us your ideas for praying through Advent in your home.
Tips for doing a shoebox giving project this holiday season:
` Have your child(ren) prepare a shoebox for a child his/her own age.
` Set a price limit before you begin. $25-30 is usually our goal.
`Discuss possible gifts before getting to the store, as well as the importance of including some necessary items such as new gloves and socks as well as treasures such as glitter pens and a journal for a teen girl or hot wheels cars for a young boy.
` Pray with your child for the recipient throughout the holiday season but especially while packaging the shoebox prior to delivery
Check with your local diocese, parish or social service organization for shoebox programs.
With this month of Thanksgiving upon us, let us take a moment to recall what we are thankful for. Better yet let us teach those who look up to us to do the same.
Happy All Saints Day!
Here is my favorite All Saints game. It has minimal set up and is good for children and adults.
Maybe you could set one up in your office or classroom??
Bernie’s post reminded me of my favorite Christian books for boys. Check them out, click on each image for a link to them on Amazon.
It’s FALL!!!! I love the colors, the smells, & the coffee flavors!!!!
If you read our bios, it is no secret that the gals love their coffee. Check out our Pinterest Board dedicated to this love. We also have one set aside for coffee mugs… yep, coffee is a big deal for us. We plan retreats over it and share lots of laughs, even the occasional tear.
What do you enjoy sharing with your friends?? Maybe you share recipes or sewing patterns. Whatever it is, take time this week to share a moment with a dear friend.
